| THE JILL SCOTT REVIEW - Brixton Academy 20.11.2004 Review: DAPS | Photography: DAPS The Academy was packed! Not surprising, at all. I've seen Jill Scott perform before, on the 'Words&Sounds Volume 1' Tour, so I knew what to expect - PURE TALENT! Jill Scott is one of those women who makes hearing live music that much more enjoyable. I picked up the first album after hearing one song and didn't even wait to hear new tracks before knowing I was gonna buy the second. The accompanying band seemed smaller this time around, but were no less tight and on-point. The backing vocalists put it down on their formal introductions and received much applause and cheers for their likkle solo peices...gwaan! Jill's sexy, sassy and wise. It's nice to see people who can actually write and sing, earning their money on stage, like a real artist should. Seeing her perform brought the CD to life and forced me to listen to her words and not just the music. Oi?! They tried to put "No Cameras" on the ticket! Are they nuts?! 3G phones, Camera phones, Digital Cameras and even big ol' SLRs were in effect. How do they expect you to come away from that kind of performance with no visual memorabilia? ![]() ![]() I urge anybody who appreciates Real Soul&Jazz collaborations to pick up both Albums - WHO IS JILL SCOTT | WORDS & SOUNDS Vol.1 BEAUTIFULLY HUMAN | WORDS & SOUNDS Vol.2 I ain't getting paid to promote big record stores, so get down to your nearest CD Bar, £10 CD shop, or that guy who works on the stall in East Street Market and get an original copy... 'llow paying for bootlegs! Check
